How to be More Malawian

1. Greet strangers everywhere by saying “How are you?”
2. Try to be less wasteful - use cloth products that can be washed instead of paper. If you wash your hands before and after meals, you don’t need napkins. Reuse and recycle paper and cardboard. Make it a game to try to never throw anything away (unless it will bio-degrade).
3. Adopt or foster American children, and advocate for locals in all countries to adopt their own. Note: in the US, this may mean adopting children with disabilities, or older children.
4. Live with family or friends and combine budgets for food and other common expenses.
5. Corporately sing worship songs at random, in public and private places.
6. Host informal worship gatherings regularly in your home.
7. Visit hospitals and pray for the sick (requires procedures in the US).
8. Visit prisons and pray for the prisoners (same as above).
9. Take up collections through your Church congregation and friends for orphans, widows, single moms, the elderly, and the homeless - collect blankets, food, clothing, and basic commodities.
10. Cultivate relationships with 10-12 families on your block.
11. Share vehicles, vehicle expenses, and carpool.
12. Walk or bike, and move to a location that allows you to do so.
13. Save leftover food and eat it first before making something else.
14. Use natural light as much as possible.
15. Learn to grow and store your own food, especially if you work at home.
